Main Project Results

1. Organization of 3 online training sessions by each of the project partner countries: Module 1 ‘History of the City’; Module 2 ‘Presentation of Underwater Archaeological Research’; and Module 3 ‘Sustainable Tourism’, also taking into account anti-COVID-19 measures.

Thus, APPRODI PLUS aims to update and improve the training courses already conducted during the APPRODI Project by revising their content, particularly regarding new scenarios arising from the pandemic experience and new financial instruments provided by the EU Commission (and national authorities).

2. Organization of regional public events by each of the project partners. In this context, on June 10, 2022, the Municipality of Durrës organized a Regional Event in two pilot areas with archaeological potential: the Currila/Batlla Area and the Cape of Rodoni Area. During the event, the results of underwater archaeological research conducted by external experts during the implementation phase of the APPRODI project were presented, aiming to promote ancient ports in the ADRION region. Participants in this regional activity included representatives of the Municipality of Durrës, regional authorities (Durrës Museum Center, Durrës Regional Council, Port Authority), archaeology experts, academics, representatives of civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

3. Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the cities and Port Authorities of each project partner country to establish the Network of Ancient Port Cities in the ADRION area, aiming to promote the results of the APPRODI and APPRODI PLUS projects.

4. Participation in the Project Closing Event in Dubrovnik on June 23: Lessons learned from the pandemic and concrete solutions for the post-COVID-19 situation, presentation of the principles of the ADRION Area Cities Network represented by the MoU signatory members; focus on regional-level issues and perspectives.
