Office for Gender Equality and Domestic Violence

Office for Gender Equality and Domestic Violence: It is a structure created in March 2008, by decision of the Municipal Council and is the first Office for Gender Equality at the local level. The Office for Gender Equality works to increase public awareness on gender issues that society faces today, and to contribute to addressing the needs of underrepresented groups such as women, as well as to managing work on cases of domestic violence. The Municipality of Durres is appreciated for the work done in these two directions thanks to the collaboration with:

Local institutions and NGOs operating in the city of Durres have been part of the Coordinated Response Mechanism since 2009.
Collaboration with the Community Development Center "Today for the Future" through which Psychological and Legal Services and the 08009888 Hotline are provided.
In collaboration with UNDP, the joint UN program that supports the implementation of the National Strategy for Gender Equality and Against Domestic Violence, this cooperation has been developed in two phases:
Phase One "Implementation of the Strategic Platform for Coordinated Community Response against Domestic Violence in Durres" (CCR) in December 2009. This Platform aimed to create a working group: Coordinated Community Response (RCR) that would deal with the management of domestic violence cases.

Phase Two "Development and Implementation of the Strategic Platform for Coordinated Community Response against Domestic Violence in Durres, the creation of (CCR), in its sub-urban and rural areas, as well as gender integration in local development plans". In this second phase of the project, the collaborators were expanded: 2 Communes and 2 Municipalities of Durres District, the Communes of Maminas and Rrashbull and the Municipalities of Sukth and Shijak.
