In the city of Durrës, there is only one public sector residential center for the provision of services for people with disabilities. This covers the education system and some services for this category. Meanwhile, the promotion of employment and vocational training, the expansion and improvement of services, the construction of adapted public and non-public environments, became the goal of the local strategy for disability.
Within the framework of the Local Strategy for people with disabilities, a series of awareness-raising activities have been organized with local businesses and service providers. The Municipality of Durrës, in cooperation with the Vocational Training Center, has set up several groups of courses for people with disabilities. Meetings have been continuously organized in job centers and with business representatives to promote the employment of this category.
Meetings with donors have also been organized to promote the establishment of a multifunctional information, guidance and counseling center for people with disabilities and their families.
