Office for Gender Equality and Domestic Violence: It is a structure created in March 2008, by decision of the Municipal Council and is the first Office for Gender Equality at the local level. The Office works to increase public awareness on gender issues that society faces today, and to contribute to addressing the needs of underrepresented groups such as women, as well as to managing work on cases of domestic violence. The Municipality of Durres is appreciated for the work done in these two directions thanks to the collaboration with:
First Phase "Implementation of the Strategic Platform for Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence in Durres" (CCR) in December 2009. This Platform aimed to create a working group: Coordinated Community Response (RCR) that would deal with the management of domestic violence cases.
Second Phase "Development and Implementation of the Strategic Platform for Coordinated Community Response against Domestic Violence in Durres, the creation of (CCR), in its sub-urban and rural areas, as well as gender integration in local development plans". In this second phase of the project, the collaborators were expanded: 2 Communes and 2 Municipalities of Durres District, the Communes of Maminas and Rrashbull and the Municipalities of Sukth and Shijak.
