Përshkrimi: EDEN është një projekt bashkëpunimi ndërkufitar i konceptuar për të rigjeneruar hapësira urbane dhe peri-urbane të neglizhuara ose të nënshfrytëzuara, duke i transformuar ato në ferma urbane të qëndrueshme dhe të drejtuara nga komuniteti. Përmes një përpjekjeje të koordinuar ndërmjet partnerëve në Itali, Shqipëri dhe Mal të Zi, projekti synon të promovojë biodiversitetin, të forcojë qëndrueshmërinë ekologjike dhe të nxisë një kulturë të përgjegjësisë mjedisore tek qytetarët—veçanërisht tek të rinjtë.
Projekti i përgjigjet disa çështjeve të përbashkëta në të gjithë zonën e adriatikut jugor, përfshirë dhe qytetin e Durrësit:
- Urbanizimi i shpejtë që redukton hapësirat e gjelbra;
- Biodiversiteti lokal i kërcënuar, përfshirë varietetet tradicionale bujqësore;
- Angazhimi i ulët publik në sjellje dhe veprime miqësore ndaj mjedisit.
Qëllimi i Projektit: Qëllimi i përgjithshëm i Projektit EDEN është krijimi i hapësirave të gjelbra pilote që mbështesin florën dhe faunën lokale, ruajnë biodiversitetin bimor dhe përfshijnë komunitetet lokale përmes edukimit dhe angazhimit. Projekti është në përputhje me Prioritetin e Programit PA2 – Një Adriatik i Jugut më i gjelbër dhe Objektivin Specifik SO 2.2 (mbrojtja e natyrës, biodiversiteti dhe reduktimi i ndotjes).
Ky projekt synon:
- Zbatimin e planeve pilote të bujqësisë urbane që rrisin biodiversitetin në tre vendet partnere;
- Rritjen e ndërgjegjësimit qytetar dhe nxitja e pjesëmarrjes;
- Hartimin e një Strategjie të Përbashkët për Fermat Urbane, si model i transferueshëm;
- Përmirësimin e njohurive dhe praktikave ndërmjet autoriteteve lokale, shkollave, OJF-ve dhe institucioneve kërkimore.
Qasja Inovative e projektit: Projekti EDEN shkon përtej bujqësisë urbane tipike duke:
- Integruar rritjen e biodiversitetit drejtpërdrejt në bujqësinë urbane;
- Vendosur programe të strukturuara trajnimi për qytetarët, jo vetëm fushata ndërgjegjësimi;
- Promovuar shkëmbimin e njohurive ndërkufitare dhe praktika të harmonizuara mjedisore.

Secili partner kontribuon me ekspertizë në biodiversitet, planifikim urban, zhvillim komunitar, edukim mjedisor dhe menaxhim projektesh.

Project title: Ecological Development through farming for enhancing the urban Environment

Description: EDEN is a cross-border cooperation project designed to regenerate neglected or underused urban and peri-urban spaces by transforming them into sustainable, community-driven urban farms. Through a coordinated effort among partners in Italy,
Albania, and Montenegro, the project aims to promote biodiversity, strengthen ecological resilience, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility among citizens—especially young people.
The project responds to several common issues across the South Adriatic area, including the city of Durrës:
- Rapid urbanization reducing green spaces;
- Threatened local biodiversity, including traditional agricultural varieties;
- Low public engagement in environmentally friendly behaviors and actions.
Project Goal: The overall goal of the EDEN Project is to establish pilot green spaces that support local flora and fauna, preserve plant biodiversity, and actively involve local communities through education and engagement. The project aligns with Programme
Priority PA2 – A Greener South Adriatic and Specific Objective SO 2.2 (nature protection, biodiversity conservation, and pollution reduction).
This project aims to:
- Implement pilot urban agriculture plans that enhance biodiversity in the three partner countries;
- Raise public awareness and encourage citizen participation;
- Develop a Joint Strategy for Urban Farms as a transferable model;
- Improve knowledge and practices among local authorities, schools, NGOs, and research institutions.
Innovative Approach of the Project:
The EDEN Project goes beyond typical urban agriculture by:
- Integrating biodiversity enhancement directly into urban farming practices;
- Establishing structured training programs for citizens, rather than relying solely on awareness campaigns;
- Promoting cross-border knowledge exchange and harmonized environmental practices.
Project Partnership
The consortium includes six partners:

- Botanical Garden of Salento – Italy
- Free to Travel (Udhëtim i Lirë) – Albania
- Local community Stara Varos, Municipality of Niksic, Montenegro
- Bashkia Durrës – Albania
- GAL Molise Rurale – Italy
Each partner contributes expertise in biodiversity, urban planning, community development, environmental education, and project management.
